I recently went on a 6 mile walk/hike at the FM 428 Greenbelt Park here in Denton County last Monday, of course it was the hottest day of the year I think the temperature reading on the car said it was 100 degrees when we were done. I was never more happy to see that car, thank goodness for air-conditioning. I carried 10 lbs of camera gear and James carried all the water. He said the thing about carrying the water pack was that it got lighter the farther down the trail we went. I wanted to show you guys some of the photos I took while walking out there.

I have this wooden mannequin that I have named Pierre, he went on the hike as well, though I think he might have had it easy.

Call me crazy but I think these particular spiders are so pretty. I call them Garden Spiders. They always put up a web at my parents house by the smoke house. It is fun to watch them grow and their webs are always so neat. I think this one was watching me.
Of course the butterflies were out in force as well.
As much a symbol of Texas as Bluebonnets and barbed wire, Texas Longhorns are descended from the first cattle first brought to the Americas over 500 years ago.
I just thought this was a fun shot.
We startled this little guy and his friend while they running around in the underbrush.
It was a fun hike, but after 6 miles and just over 3 hours in 100 degree heat, we were tired and hungry. So glad for the car, and sandwiches we bought and stored in the ice chest. It was fun, but I think a little more planning next time.
